Trio Elf
Inspired by recent aesthetic achievements in electronic music, Trio Elf offers a new approach to the piano trio that could be called "drum'n'bass'n'piano". Translating good old jazz and bossa tunes and even a Korean traditional into the formal language of club grooves and sounds, the three of Trio Elf give a new quality to the most popular standard format in jazz. On the other hand they present pieces by British "Mozart of Techno", electronics art hero Aphex Twin, in an acoustic context. All three members of the trio add pieces of their own to this crossover trip going from the acoustic to the electronic world and back again.
Best known for his tasteful playing and refined composing, pianist Walter Lang studied at Berklee College of Music and graduated from the Amsterdam School of the Arts. He has collaborated with jazz stars like James Moody and Chico Freeman. He released six albums under his own name and currently works with the legendary saxofonist Lee Konitz.
Bass player Sven Faller graduated from Mannes College of Music in New York and has worked on the US jazz scene for several years. He also made a name for himself as a unique composer and arranger. Among his credits are collaborations with Jim Beard, Jane Monheit, Bobby Watson and Charlie Mariano.
Drummer Gerwin Eisenhauer has proved an expert in acoustic jazz as well as electronic music. After graduating from Drummers Collective in New York he worked with fellow drummer Robbie Ameen, the Frank Sinatra Tribute Big Band, Torsten de Winkel and many more. He also published a drum'n'bass workbook for drummers in 2005.
